You just have to admire the resilience of these contestants on this gameshow. Even when all seems hopeless!

So then… In a ‘debate’ between Islam vs. Christianity… It seems they only found agreement when they had a common enemy; “The Jew.”

Now all joking aside, this is not such a bad concept. History has proven it to work. Hitler was able to be defeated by the combined forces of the Allied powers coming in from the West, and the Red Army of the USSR defeating Hitler from the East. Two very opposing camps, Western Capitalism and Russian Communism, were able to work together to defeat a common foe.

Very soon afterwards, the co-operation broke down. A breakdown which culminated in the Cold War and the subsequent arms race between the two emergent Super Powers of this new world order. Had the threat remained indefinitly, would the co-operation have remained also?

So then… world peace. How can we achieve that? Well maybe a common foe to unite the whole of mankind is needed. A common foe that maintains itself indefinitily in a careful balance of being a threat but not ever being victorious. Much like the Cold War. No actual ‘hot war’ takes place. But the threat is enough to raise humanity as a whole to a new level of co-operation that sees itself void of current conflicts within mankind.

So what is available to fill such a vacancy? To be a threat to the whole of mankind, does the requirement make it inherent that any threat will be beyond mankind? Aliens? Yeah well if there is anything out there… Even the most benign of aliens in terms of threat may want to soon make a presense considering the state of world affairs. It should be enough to make humaity stop to think. And if the Aliens do become a threat, not to worry. If Independence Day is anything to go by, we’ll just send the recently arrested, ‘King of Spammers‘ to spam the alien systems to oblivion…

I should think that Hollywood has sufficiently conditioned us to not be so afraid of an alien invasion. We have Will Smith on our side right? Maybe the US Government should even go and stage the whole thing… Have the same effect without the actual invasion! So anyways, enough of my nonsense. Im not an ‘Aliens are out there’ nut to think this could happen for Humanity. We are actually destined to fight with ourselves until we destroy the planet. With nuclear stockpiles in existance already that can destroy the Earth several times over.. what hope does humanity have from this frightening reality? We are already on a slipperly slope being oiled by the mindless who are in power…

The driver, a young man in an Armani suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the shepherd: “If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?”

The shepherd looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answers: “Sure. Why not?”

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra high resolution photo.

The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored.

He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the shepherd and says: “You have exactly 1586 sheep.”

“That’s right. Well, I guess you can take one of my sheep.” says the shepherd.

He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.

Then the shepherd says to the young man: “Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep?”

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says: “Okay, why not?”

“You’re a consultant.” says the shepherd. “Wow! That’s correct,” says the yuppie, “but how did you guess that?”

“No guessing required”, answered the shepherd. “You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked; and you don’t know crap about my business… Now give me back my dog.”

I didn’t think I will see directions as crazy as this though: 

Ok in all fairness, this isnt the GPS software that came with the N95 originally. It is a free application that uses the online map services such as Google Maps and Yahoo Maps. Still.. “Swim across the Atlantic Ocean”? Wherever it may be getting its data from, someone, somewhere had to have been having a laugh with that one!

Apparently swimming will take 29 days and 0 hours! For a length of 5,572km, thats good timing no? I wonder if that includes rests along the way…

The application seemed to have gone off on a tangent on its own and looked up the road name I provided to find a match in Ottawa… Canada! Didnt even ask me to confirm… Starts plotting away on its own accord.

What I really wanted was a friends house in LONDON and so searching again, remembering to specify “UK” this time gets me the correct result…

Phew.. wasn’t really in the mood for swimming! I wonder if it expects you to swim with your car in tow too… hmm…

However.. I have to say that being able to test drive the best cars as and when they come out, like here, I am really jealous of the guy and wish I could be in his place most of the times I watch the show.

I mean get paid to drive cars and review them? What could be better than that? And just when I thought I couldnt be more jealous of the idiot.. what do I find?!!
